Styne Refrigeration has installed an Air Cooled Ammonia Chiller into C&K Meats

C K Meats have embarked upon a programme of reducing their carbon footprint across the site. Having correctly identified the fact that the use of synthetic refrigerants are a major contributor to the carbon footprint of a business, it was decided to implement a programme of replacement with a view to all synthetic refrigerants being removed from site by 2025.

Following discussions with Styne Industrial refrigeration a glycol main was installed with multiple access points to enable future expansion of the system. Variable speed pumps were selected and supplied to enable the system to be expanded without major cost to the initial infrastructure.

Over a period of 36 months the site has gradually started to move away from the use of high GWP synthetic refrigerants and has prepared itself for the use of the 0GWP option of ammonia.

Working closely with our Italian partners Zudek, Styne Industrial Refrigeration have been able to design and supply an 800kw standalone Airmatik ammonia chiller, capable of supplying glycol at -10°C, this unit sized as it is will take care of the current load and the foreseeable expansion to site. This unit supplied following a successful factory approval test, is simply a “plug and play” installation, the performance is monitored continuously and in real time by Styne and Zudek engineers.

With a five year warranty and a bespoke preventative maintenance package, this unit secures the business refrigeration operating costs until 2026.
